Outer Passage didn’t start with a business plan—it began with a love for sailing and a desire to live differently. Founders Darren and Amanda first took to the water as a way to travel the world, chase adventure, and explore more freely. But somewhere between quiet sunrises at anchor and long offshore passages, sailing became something more. It offered a new way of life—one rooted in freedom, self-reliance, and a deeper connection to the places and people they encountered along the way. As their miles grew, so did their desire to share the experience. What they found most meaningful wasn’t just the journey, but welcoming others aboard, guiding them through sail training, teaching the realities of boat life, and introducing the simple, challenging, beautiful parts of living at sea.

Why Outer Passage
Outer Passage isn’t a typical charter program. It’s an opportunity to step aboard a performance cruising catamaran, experience the lifestyle firsthand, and learn the practical skills to someday set sail on your own. Each passage is immersive, blending hands-on sail training with the real-world experiences of cruising. It was created to bridge the gap between dreaming about life on the water and actually living it. Whether you're preparing to buy a boat, curious about cruising, or simply ready for something different, Outer Passage offers a meaningful way to learn, live, and explore.

As the vision grew, so did the crew. Today, Outer Passage includes a team of experienced sailors and passionate hosts like Elliott and Anaïs who bring their own energy, knowledge, and love for watersports to the program. Together, we continue to create unforgettable passages that empower more people to pursue their own adventures at sea.

Outer Passage has grown from a single-boat dream into a premier destination for hands-on catamaran sailing education. Today, we proudly offer immersive experiences aboard world-class Balance Catamarans, providing sailors with the confidence and skills to cruise independently. Looking ahead, we're expanding our fleet and launching a global training schedule, bringing Outer Passage to prime sailing grounds around the world. Our vision is clear: to be the leader in catamaran sail training and the go-to choice for anyone looking to cruise on a Balance Catamaran.
